Yearly across Canada communities mark ‘Orange Shirt Day’, which grew out of an account of a residential school survivors experience at the St. Joseph Mission Residential School in Williams Lake, BC. On this day schools are encouraged to wear orange shirts to honour residential school survivors and raise awareness regarding Aboriginal Education and our shared Canadian History. In Burnaby last year, many schools held events to commemorate the day. This year we will mark the day on Thursday, September 29th, 2016.
